I am right now in KTM's ETS, a fast train that could take you from KL to Ipoh in 2 hours vice versa comfortably...I would have enjoyed the experience even more if the reason me being on it right now is for some leisure trip. However, me n my husband decided to take this train today so that we could visit my very ill grandfather at Ipoh asap without having to find excuses for our other commitments.
Anyway, some infos about this service provided by KTM. It could take u to Ipoh and other cities like Behrang, Sungkai etc in between at a very reasonable introductory price, RM30. You have to purchase the ticket at least 1 hour before the departure time at KL Sentral of course. ( We took the 2pm trip and from Ipoh-KL the last trip at 6.30pm). In the train itself, the seats are comfortable, clean and nice toilet, powerpoint to charge you hp or laptop, and they offer some food like maggie in cup and hot drinks (a smaller version of airasia style)...it saves time and energy as compared to driving, and you could use the time marking students' carrymarks like me :p.
